Conference on the relational aspects of dramaturgy

Dramaturgy has, in its traditional sense, a fourfold meaning: the text dramaturgy, the performance dramaturgy, the production dramaturgy and the dramaturgy of the theatre house/performance venue within its surroundings. On the 15th and 16th of March 2012, a number of academic and artistic partners organise a conference about the relational aspects of dramaturgy, which has as a main interest the levels of production processes and their outcome, the performances.
CAMPO geselecteerd voor Duits Theatertreffen

Before Your Very Eyes, een productie van het Gentse kunstencentrum CAMPO & het Brits-Duitse collectief Gob Squad, werd geselecteerd voor het Duitse Theatertreffen. Sinds 1964 selecteert een jury van critici jaarlijks de tien meest opmerkelijke voorstellingen die dan worden getoond in Berlijn. Het Theatertreffen vindt dit jaar plaats van 4 tot 20 mei.
In memoriam Paul Wuyts

Op 15 februari 2012 overleed acteur Paul Wuyts op 63-jarige leeftijd. Wuyts was zowel actief in theater als op tv. Hij speelde onder meer bij de KVS, Studio Amsterdam, Stichting het Groot Limburgs Toneel en de Internationale Nieuwe Scene (zie fragment hieronder). Hij was ook actief als dramaturg en raadgever bij het sociaal-artistieke gezelschap Tutti Fratelli. Vorig jaar speelde hij nog de rol van 'Lou' in de serie De Ronde op Eén.
Rudi Meulemans verzameld

Naar aanleiding van de 25ste verjaardag van theatergezelschap De Parade verschijnt bij uitgeverij Vrijdag een boek met negen stukken van artistiek leider en auteur Rudi Meulemans. De auteur praat met criticus Pol Arias en actrice Mieke Verdin brengt een persoonlijke selectie teksten uit het boek. De theaterteksten in Verzameld van Rudi Meulemans worden bevolkt door figuren als Caravaggio, Darwin, Manet, Bacon, Sontag en Mapplethorpe.
Courant 100 - De waarde van kunst

Dit honderdste nummer van Courant gaat op zoek naar de waarde van de kunst. We nodigden we een diverse groep van kunstliefhebbers uit de artistieke en andere maatschappelijke sectoren uit om in hun pen te kruipen en met ons te delen wat kunst voor hen betekent. De optelsom geeft een brede waaier aan belevingen en bijdragen van ‘de kunst’ die zich niet zomaar laten vatten in een beknopte set van grote argumenten. Lars Kwakkenbos ging een gelijkaardige opdracht aan als elk van die 62 andere gastschrijvers.
Outline theatre landscape

The Flemish theatre scene has never been so large, colourful and varied as it is today. The 47 organisations receiving operational subsidies (2010-2013) constitute the largest group in this field. A string of young companies, semi-permanent collectives and individual theatre-makers are also active in individual projects with or without support from the Flemish government. Indeed, there is a growing number of theatre companies in the free, non-subsidised theatre circuit.

The role of the curator and the arts in a digital culture'. Invited speakers Beryl Graham, Frank Maet and Michelle Kasprzak situate, consider and debate this topic from an academic, philosophical and curatorial perspective.

Gastsprekers Beryl Graham, Frank Maet en Michelle Kasprzak geven vanuit academisch, filosofisch en curatorenperspectief een lezing en gaan vervolgens het debat aan.
Children's and youth performing arts landscape

The Flemish children’s and youth performing arts are a prized export. In the 2009-10 season Flemish youth productions were presented in other European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Great Britain and Denmark, as well as further afield, in Canada, the United States, and even Australia and New Zealand. Both established names and new faces are doing well internationally.

Inschrijvingen Fringe Festival open

Het Amsterdamse Fringe Festival vindt dit jaar plaats tussen 30 augustus en 9 september. De organisatoren omschrijven het festival als volgt: 'een ode aan de theatrale gekte, de onafhankelijke geest en een pleidooi voor artistieke vrijheid'. Nog tot 1 maart 2012 kan je je inschrijven met je performance. Voorstellingen, performances en acts die zich onderscheiden door een tegendraadse, ruige, politieke of andere spannende invalshoek zijn welkom. Typisch ‘Fringe’ is dat zowel de groepen als de locaties zelf actief werken aan het promoten van de voorstellingen en artiesten.
